The Old Calf Shed

The Old Calf Shed, the renamed restaurant at Jordan’s Courtyard changes hands and offers patrons a wider menu encompassing locally sourced produce, longer opening hours and more exciting changes await the venue.

Just outside of Ilminster lies the quaint estate, Jordans Courtyard. Many know Jordans Courtyard well and frequently visit for a coffee or brunch. To indulge in a spot of retail therapy, or to visit the wonderful outlets set within the site. Many also come to participate in the wide range of wellness programmed available in the stunning yoga barn.

Amongst the warm and welcoming ham-stone buildings is the restaurant with ample inside seating and gorgeous outside seating on the sunny terrace. The building was once used as a calf shed when the estate was a fully working farm. The establishment has recently been taken over by some fresh new faces, Paul and Nell.

Previously called the Café & Terrace at Jordans Courtyard by Kitchen, now The Old Calf Shed restaurant at Jordans Courtyard. Under the new name, Paul and Nell are excited to make more changes and to bring their love for hospitality, bustling ambience and good food & drink to the site.

New owners, Paul and Nell, have a wealth of experience in hospitality and private dining which they are excited to bring to the diners at The Old Calf Shed. Paul is originally from Wiltshire where he worked as Head Chef at Beechfield House, before moving to Somerset. Nell moved to Somerset 5 years ago from London where she worked in various hospitality roles including the London Eye.

Paul and Nell have a lust for life and their energy and enthusiasm led them to embark on a joint venture in the shape of a successful private dining business before bringing their skills, experience, and passion to The Old Calf Shed. Their love for hosting and entertaining people is something that led them to start this new venture and is bound to shine through to customers so that anyone visiting is sure to feel welcome and have a great experience.

The West Country is blessed with wonderful suppliers of local produce and that is something that Paul and Nell immediately wanted to embrace. Their food will always be seasonal and locally sourced and there will be some exciting additions to the current menu with more lunch options and some delicious weekend brunch specials. The drinks menu is also expanding to include local beers, ciders, wines and some tasty cocktails made in-house.

So, what else can we expect to see at The Old Calf Shed? Well, alongside the usual dining hours Tuesday- Sunday 9am- 3pm the venue will be taking group bookings for occasions as well as various pop up events and outdoor fire cooking. There are even whispers that the venue might start evening events which is an exciting prospect for locals who may be able to sip a cool cocktail whilst eating delicious food as the sun goes down in a beautiful location.
